Gus Automotive has been in the same building on SW 7th Street for nearly 30 years. Three owners, one consistent commitment -- honest work, fair prices, and a shop that treats every customer like a neighbor.
Ryan Guisinger grew up in Stuart, came into this shop as a kid with his dad, and went full-time out of high school. It started the way most things in a small town do -- watching, learning the rhythms, and eventually becoming the one keeping the place running.
Ryan spent more than 20 years as an employee here under previous owners Roger Bellville and his uncle Gary. That is the actual foundation of how the work gets done at Gus Automotive. He learned from people who expected it to be done right.
In 2018, Ryan bought the business. Same location. Same commitment to Stuart and the surrounding communities. Every vehicle that comes through the door belongs to someone he will see at the grocery store or at a school event.
"We may not have all the right answers, but we'll be honest with you about it, and treat you like one of our own."
Ryan Guisinger, OwnerNearly 30 years in the trade backed up by formal certifications across diagnostics, warranty programs, and specialty installs.
Ryan has held ASE certification for nearly 30 years. ASE Master Tech status requires passing multiple rigorous exams across all major vehicle systems. It is not a participation certificate.
Gus Automotive is a certified NAPA AutoCare Center. This affiliation backs most repairs with a 24-month, 24,000-mile parts and labor warranty honored at over 14,000 shops nationwide.
Membership in the Midwest Auto Care Alliance keeps Ryan connected to industry training, best practices, and a network of reputable independent shops throughout the region.
Air Lift suspension products require certified installation to perform correctly and maintain warranty coverage. Ryan is trained and authorized to install Air Lift kits for trucks and towing applications.
When a remanufactured engine is the right call, Ryan sources through Jasper Engines and Transmissions, one of the most respected names in remanufactured powertrains. Jasper units carry their own extended warranty on top of NAPA coverage.
Transmission replacements at Gus Automotive use Certified Transmissions remanufactured units, which come with additional warranty terms. Ryan explains what is covered before any work begins.
Gus Automotive does not show up at community events because it looks good on a website. We show up because that is how this shop has always operated and because these are our communities.
You will find us at local parades, supporting FFA and 4-H programs, working with PTO, helping with after-prom, and at area events like Best of the Block BBQ and Freedom Fest. We raise money for the local police department and EMS. These are not sponsored appearances. This is just what someone does when they actually live in a place and care about it.
When you bring your vehicle to Gus Automotive, the money stays in the local community. The same people who fixed your car are your neighbors. That accountability matters, and we know it.
Passenger cars and light trucks up to approximately 1 ton. Domestic brands are our bread and butter, along with most Japanese makes.
Cars, sedans, coupes, wagons, minivans. If you drive it to work or haul your family in it, we have worked on one just like it. Most diagnostic visits wrap up in an hour or two.
Half-ton and three-quarter-ton trucks, SUVs, and crossovers up to approximately 1 ton. Domestic trucks are the heart of the work here, along with Toyota and other Japanese trucks and SUVs.
Got a repair estimate from another shop that seems high, or a diagnosis that does not feel right? Bring it in. We will tell you honestly what we see and whether the recommended work makes sense. No charge for a second look on most situations.
Wheel alignments, auto body work, and most European vehicles fall outside what we are set up to handle well. We would rather send you to the right shop than do a job halfway. Call and we will point you somewhere we trust.
Call during business hours or stop in at 523 SW 7th St in Stuart. Walk-ins are welcome, though we are usually booked a few days out.
